Some suggestions in sending Bible verses through cell phone text messages : I'm sure just like me you are also receiving Bible verses through text from your friends, relatives and strangers who know your cell phone numbers. At times the verses are uplifting & comforting but there are times the verses sent seemed offensive. So, I listed some suggestions, here it goes :
1. Please check your motives in sending Bible verses. Make sure that your mind and heart is free from revengeful and negative spirit.
2. Choose Bible verses that are encouraging, comforting. Remember God is Love and Love is God.
3. If there's a way, try to know the condition of the person receiving the text message. Is he/she sick, jobless...etc? If he/she is a stranger consider also that this person might be having day to day struggles so be gentle with the verse that you are sending.
4. Read the Bible correctly & carefully. Try not to be out of context by relying on your interpretation. Study the Bible. The one receiving your text might be confused to receive inappropriate text message.
5. It seems not advisable to send Bible verse to rebuke people. It is better to talk to them personally or to send them letters to clarify issues. Rebuking is a long, painful process. Text messages is very limited when it comes to settling issues.
6. Make sure that you live up to the message of your Bible verse text. If your text is about a godly life you should have a godly life too. Put into practice what you are preaching or text messaging.
7. If your text is to condole or to comfort try to make an effort to couple it with action. Remember actions speak better than words.
8.Send easy to understand Bible verses if sending to unknown people. Be honest text your name and the church where you belong.
9. Learn when to stop sending verses to the same person . If there is no reply after you sent several text messages , chances are he/she read and deleted your text. Perhaps you could try praying. Just remember, God with His power can change people dramatically with or with out your text messages.
How about You? Any suggestions you want to add?
